Wayne Laverne Rogers was born on September 23, 1958, in Augusta, Georgia. He peacefully departed this life on March 9, 2026. Although born in Augusta, he spent most of his life in the Greensboro/HighPoint area of Guilford County, North Carolina. There, he built lasting relationships and quietly touched many lives.
From childhood, Wayne was known for his intelligence and thoughtful nature. He was a smart child who became an equally intelligent and reflective man. He loved music and played the violin, showing both discipline and creativity.
Wayne dedicated much of his career to the culinary arts. He graduated from the GTCC culinary program and the Providence Culinary Training Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He worked as a chef in colleges and hotels across the Triad region. Through cooking, he expressed care, creativity, and generosity. His meals were prepared with both skill and heart.
Above all, Wayne loved the Lord. His faith guided his life. He served as a deacon-in-training at Providence Church of God in Christ. He was known for his quiet devotion and commitment to the Word of God. Wayne was an avid Bible reader and spent many hours studying scripture and strengthening his faith.
Though naturally quiet, Wayne showed love in meaningful ways. He cared for others through the meals he made, the things he built, and the conversations he shared about Jesus. His life reflected kindness, humility, and service.
Wayne leaves to cherish his memory his loving sister, Annette Jones (Ronnie); his brothers, Alvah Rogers (Ellaree), Benjamin Rogers (Acuzena), and Horace Rogers. He is also remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever hold his gentle spirit and quiet strength in their hearts.
