Mary "Grandmary" (Simmen) Harvey

Mary passed away at her home in Greensboro surrounded by family. Born in Pittsburgh PA, Mary spent her childhood in Huntington WV, lived and worked in Richmond VA for 23 years, and in Greensboro NC for 30 years. She graduated from Virginia Commonweath University win a BA -Education and MA-English .  She taught special needs children and college English before retiring. Active in community and church, she volunteered for the Greensboro History Museum, Meals on Wheels, and kids Path. She loved golfing, traveling, quilting, the Knit Wits, book club, and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by husband Jim Harvey, daughter Kim Novosad (Peter), stepchildren Carolyn Porter (Fred) & Charles Harvey (Chris), her late sisters Susan Gillete (Paul) & Ginny Dixon (Larry), brothers-in-law Mike Harvey (Paula) & Bill Harvey (Sherry), grandchildren Russell, Hannah, Cody, Cameron, Petko, & Samko, nieces/nephews  Sean, Paula, PT, Billy, Melissa, Christi, Sherry, Stephanie, greatnieces/ nephews  Alek, Alex, Maddie, Elizabeth, Trey, Jacqueline, Vic, Zachary, Russell & Delia. She had five great grandchildren . A celebration of life will be held at Community in Christ, Presbyterian, 5401 Liberty Rd. Greensboro NC 27406, Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 2pm with reception following. In  lieu of flowers donations may be made to Community in Christ, Presbyterian or AuthoraCare Hospice of Greensboro.
