Gracie Hawkins Obituary

Gracie Bell Graham Hawkins was born to Robert Ted Graham and Jessie Bell McQuaiage Graham in Rowland NC April 6, 1942.

She graduated from Southside High School in Rowland, North Carolina.  Gracie relocated to New York where she met and married Adelbert Searcy (15yrs).  Together they loved and nurtured six children.

As a full-time mom, she nurtured her growing family.  She loved Jehovah God and introduced her children to her Christian faith.  Gracie was fully engaged both in the school system and her neighborhood community as a parent leader.  She shared her skills and ability in the community as an organizer and a recreational and cultural director for her neighborhood.

In 1974 Gracie moved with her family to Greensboro, North Carolina.  Gracie met and married to Benjamin Hawkins (27yrs).  In 2005, She was recognized as a "Woman of Wisdom" by the Elim Christian Fellowship.

 Gracie loved spending time with her family.  Everything she touched she made beautiful.  She had an eye for interior decorating, loved wrestling, bowling and playing Bid Whist.

She was known for being a fashionista.  She enjoyed life.  Gracie owned and operated Gracie's Cleaning Service and after 40 years in business, she retired.  She had a remarkable work ethic.

Gracie is preceded in death by Adelbert Searcy and Benjamin Hawkins; her parents Robert and Jessie Bell Graham; her siblings Bettye Bryant, Robert Graham, Helen Floyd and Kenneth Graham.

She is survived by the greatest joy in her life, her children; Terrie Booker (Robert), Chevelle Searcy; Malik Searcy (Raemonda); Adelbert Searcy (Gloria); Lashenna Searcy Grabe (Dale); Sheranda Searcy (Johnnie).  She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jessica Grace Booker, Kendel Toney (Josh), Amber Ward (Curt), Ian Bean (Nicole), Decatur Fewell, Rian Escamilla (Michael), Amaya Searcy, Indra McGill (Travis), Destiny Fewell, Elizeth Lopez Marin, Elideth Lopez Marin, Alexander Lopez Marin, Cristopher Lopez Marin, Israel Banks, Brianna Grabe, Kaylah Singh (Sunprit) and Kameron Meadows.  She is also survived by her great-grandchildren:  Emily Escoto, Liam Escoto, Dominic Bennett, Victoria Toney, Kelyn Herbert, Rachel Ward, Olive Ward, Fennick Bean, Janiya Koonce, Coco Yamada, Amiri Fewell, Sloane Escamilla and numerous relatives and friends.
