Goldie P. Smith 3/2/1958, age 67
Goldie passed away at her home on Monday March 17, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Ruth Preston, sister, Myra Neal, 2 brothers, Sherrill and Tim Preston. She is survived by her husband Jimmy Smith, Jamie (Brent) Lookabill, Preston (Andrea) Smith, 2 grandchildren Mary Evelyn Smith and Van Lookabill.
Goldie loved life and all that came with it. She worked at Southeastern Freight Lines for 37 years. While there she made many friends and friends who became family. She was a mom to many. Always making sure things got done and that they had their coffee.
In life, she was “love”. She was always worried about something. We like to pick that momma was not happy if she wasn’t worried about something. She had the biggest blue eyes and they sure did sparkle. It was her passion to help and care for people. She would give her last dollar to help someone else in need. She loved the snow no doubt, but in her younger days, you could find her at the place they had at Lake Tillery or Badin Shores in the later years. If she was not there she was outside mowing the yard in her bathing suit, because she said that’s how she got her tan. She loved her time when she was at the pool with her kids growing up, singing, dancing and having her friends over that were her world. She loved her dogs and they were her world as she was theirs.
She loved her family so much. She loved Jimmy for 45 long years. Taking trips to the beach, dealing with his truck, car, boat and motorcycle buying. She loved him anyway. When they got the motorhome she liked to call themselves Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. She loved her kids so much and she was so happy to see them both grow up to have great jobs and wonderful spouses. But nothing will compare to her 2 grandchildren. They were her entire world and so much more. You thought her blue eyes sparkled on a normal day, when she was around them they would shine. They both loved her so much and they will miss her immensely. Her laughter, her aura brought life to anyone who was around her.
We will be having mommas service next Saturday March 29th at 1:00 pm at Stokesdale Christian Church. We are doing the service then going to the fellowship hall for food and fellowship and hopefully tell good stories about momma.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Stokesdale Christian Church.
