Alvin Maurice Dennis

Alvin Maurice Dennis was born on August 3, 1961 to Vivian C. Miles, but was adopted and lovingly raised by Willie and Margaretta Dennis. Alvin departed this life on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at his home. After graduating high school, Alvin attended Purchase college and graduated with an Associate degree in Business Administration, and soon after joined the Army and was ranked as a Specialist. Along the way, Alvin fell in love with music. He signed up at College to be the disc jockey for the school radio station, and sure enough, Al was the new DJ. From that day forward, Al was known on campus as Mr. Mellow! Early in life, Al found the Lord at The Goodwill Baptist Church, located in the Bronx NY. Years later, after finally relocating to Greensboro, NC, Al joined The New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC where they often utilized Al's computer skills for brochures, pamphlets, programs and etc. Alvin was crazy about Football and Basketball. He especially loved the Dallas Cowboys. When the Cowboys were playing, it was impossible for Al to focus on anything else, Al was not moving from the couch! What brought him the most joy was his family and family gatherings. Al was a loving son and father, a caring and protecting brother, a playful grandfather and uncle, a people person, an amazing loyal friend who loved to laugh, and have long talks. Alvin was preceded in death by his adoptive parents Willie and Margaretta Dennis, and his sibling Kevin Miles. He leaves cherished memories to: his son, Lavar Stroud Dennis, Greensboro, NC, his grandson, Torrin Stroud, who he adored of Greensboro, NC. Sisters: Deborah Dennis, Douglasville, GA, Jacqueline Emerson, Greensboro, NC, Linda Miles, Greensboro, NC, Donna Miles, Boston, MA, Kenya Miles, Boston, MA, Amii Miles, Boston, MA and Mechi Holt, Raleigh, NC. Brothers: Otis (Hakeem) Miles, Greensboro, NC, Ramon Miles, Boston, MA, and Khaary Miles, Boston, MA. A very special daughter, and caretaker Endiah Corpening, Greensboro, NC, and his bestie of 50 plus years, Cecil Lyons, Concord, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
